Clinton Lenox Jack

August 7, 1932 — July 7, 2021

Clinton Lenox Jack, 88, passed away unexpectedly on July 7, 2021. Clinton was born in New Prospect Village, Kingstown, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, to Daniel Jack and Theodora Andrews on August 7, 1932. He was the youngest of five siblings and loved to accompany his father and uncle on their daily work trades around town. At the age of 5 he accompanied his favorite uncle Mr. Joseph Knight on a voyage across the seas to the sunny port of Trinidad and Tobago to enjoy a weekend of fishing and sports. However, he stayed in Trinidad and was raised by his uncle and wife alongside an older brother Francisco. As a boy, Clinton attended Arima Boys' R.C. Primary School. He was a devout member of the Roman Catholic Church where he served as an attendant to his religious peers and provided services in his community. Clinton was a fast learner and learned trades at a very young age. At the age of 9 he was able to carve wooden sculptures and make small repair around the house. His uncle saw his talent and was impressed, he would then help young Clinton master the art of cabinetry by building, installing, and maintaining small projects for neighbors and friends in the community. By age 15, Clinton would become well known for his creative talents and trade skills from carpentry, plumbing, and ability to work alongside his uncle and other men in the construction field. He attended Arima Senior Comprehensive school and was a member of the boys’ track and field organization, where he ran with his team and organized team clinics for children in the community. Clinton enjoyed sports in his free time and even crafted a cricket bat for his neighbor. He also loved music and thought himself to play the Steel Pan. At the age of 20 he became a member of the Trinidad Allstars Steel Orchestra. By age 24, he mastered his trade skills and was now working infield of building and architecture. He was asked to assist with the construction of a property in the upper St. Barbs Road section of Laventille. There he would meet a young woman named Julienne (nee Hamilton). After years of friendship and courting, Clinton and Julienne formed a union, from this union they produced seven beautiful devoted children. Clinton was known as a hard-working man and provided tirelessly for his family until they migrated to the United States. He continued to work in Trinidad and would travel back and forth to the states to visit with them and eventually also migrated after retirement. Clinton had a tremendous love for life and family and would be remembered fondly by his children for being a great father that he was. He as was always there, always available, and always had a kind word for anyone. Clinton is survived by his children Wendy (Anthony) of Columbus, Ohio, Sharon of St. Albans New York, Susan (Frankie) of New Hampton, New York, Anthony (Robbin) of West Haven, Connecticut, Joseph (Gillian) of Columbus, Ohio, Philomena (John) of McKinney Texas, and adopted daughter Shelly Benn, of Port Of Spain, Trinidad. He is cherished by his loving grandchildren Steve, Wendell, Christina, Deniseyah, Tameka, Precious, Faithe, T’keyah, Daria, Francesca, Matthew, Aaliyah, and Antonia, along with nine great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, uncle, and wonderful son David. Clinton will be remembered by his nieces and nephews in Trinidad, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and many other relatives and friends that reside through-out Caribbean and the USA.
