Constance “Connie” Delores (Fowler) West Connie’s sunrise was February 24, 1940, the only child born to Hawthon Mathews and Elizabeth Fowler in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Her sunset was September 4, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband Harvey West, Sr. Connie moved to Columbus, Ohio when she was 14 years old, where she would later meet her husband Harvey, Sr. who was the love of her life. They were blessed with three children from their union. She graduated from East High School in 1958. During her later high school years, Connie worked part-time at Lazarus department store downtown as a sales clerk. In 1966, Connie began a 10-year career at The Ohio State University. Connie worked as a clerk II for several years and towards the end of her career at OSU she worked as an auditor for the OSU credit union. Connie was later employed at J. C. Penney Eastland Mall. During her time there, she held positions as sales clerk, manager of the bridal department and auditor until her retirement. Connie began her Christian life at Love Zion Baptist Church where she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized. Connie served the Lord as an usher, Sunday school teacher, church treasurer, seamstress in the banner ministry and was an intricate part in the bereavement ministry. Connie was always looking for someone to help, she loved serving in that way; never looking for anything in return. Connie and her husband Harvey, Sr. served the Lord together at Faith Ministries Church as leaders of a marriage ministry which was held out of their home. She loved to laugh and pick with people for fun. She would always say, “I don’t ever want to lose my humor.” And trust us, she did not…………Her favorite games to play were UNO and Scrabble. She loved crafting, ceramics and sewing. Home was her base; she was a homebody. Her favorite place to be….. any place with her beloved Harvey. Connie is survived by daughter Pamela (James Bolden III), son Harvey West, Jr. (Carol) and youngest daughter Teresa (Daniel Woods). She was blessed to have six grandchildren, Monica (Derrick Palmore Sr.), Harvey West III, James Bolden IV, Christina (Christopher Laswell), Lauren Woods and Daniel Woods. To add to her blessings, she has four great-grandchildren, Derrick Palmore, Jr., Desyre’ Palmore, Destiny Palmore and Danielle Palmore. Connie has a special goddaughter, Ms. Carlene Ervin. Connie was blessed to be an intricate part of her husband Harvey’s family of which he had nine brothers and sisters, from which many, many nieces and nephews would be added. Connie was a wonderful wife, daughter-in-law, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister-in-law, auntie and friend. You’ve crossed over mom, you took flight……rest in heaven. We miss you more than words can say. But we know you are happy and whole once again in the arms of your beloved Harvey and in the presence of the Lord. We love you!!!!!
