Constance moved to Michigan at a young age with her mother, spending much of her adult life as a resident of Detroit (Troy) Michigan, while also keeping one foot in her birth state of Ohio. She is a 1953 graduate of Detroit’s High School of Commerce, Detroit MI. Upon the encouragement of her step-mother (the late) Edna Shefferson, she took a leap of faith one day and walked into the General Motors Central Corporate office seeking employment. With her elegance, fiery demeanor and command for respect, she quickly captivated the management team and launched her professional career at the central office in March of 1969. Upon retiring from GM in 1991 - She enjoyed a long, secure retirement alongside the love of her life, Matt Hearns.
Constance professed her faith at an early age and became a dedicated member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church (originally a member of St. Dominic Church, Columbus OH). Her life was enriched by the love of her church, caring pastor (the late Norman P. Thomas), family and friends.
Constance enjoyed spending time with her church & club members, family and close friends and especially enjoyed planning the annual church bazaar with her congregation, as well as an occasional excursion to Jamaica hosting her club members. A true socialite who would, effortlessly, light up a room and engage anyone in lengthy conversation. Constance was blessed with the ability to graciously help family, friends and community business owners, she often did so with compassion and goodwill.
Constance has now been reunited with her husband/soulmate and loved ones that preceded her in death - whom she truly missed.
