CORA BELL McCORMICK was born Wednesday, July 7, 1943, in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. She was the daughter of Lewis Grant and Anna Bell Fluellen.
Cora loved playing basketball with her older brother, Johnny, at Goodale Park. When she was younger, Cora and her sister participated in a city sponsored parade and festival that supported and raised funds for the homeless in the city. As a young girl, she was also noted in the newspaper for her barefoot track sprint.
Cora was known for her cooking of which her family and friends both enjoyed. She learned to cook from her mother, Annabell, at home and Mama Lettie at the Godman Guild, where she assisted in feeding homeless youth after school. In her leisure, she enjoyed dancing. Cora was also quarterback for the Women’s Columbus Pace Setters.
Blessed with seventy-nine years of life, our beloved Cora B. McCormick was called from labor to eternal rest on Saturday, November 26, 2022. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Cora Lee Fluellen; father, Rev. Lewis Grant Fluellen; mother, Anna Bell Fluellen; brothers, Robert C. Fluellen and John L. Fluellen; sister, Josephine L.
