Corine Simms was born October 12, 1914 in Newnan, Georgia to the late Ambers and Pearlie Barber. The Lord received her into His Kingdom on Tuesday, October 9, 2012. At an early age, Corine confessed Christ as her personal Savior and joined Smith's Chapel Methodist Church in Newnan, Georgia. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Robert Lee Simms in 1936. They moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1944, and shortly after, Corine joined Love Zion Baptist Church upon her Christian experience. God blessed them to raise seven children. She was a retired employee of the American Electric Power after 20 years of service. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Simms; parents, Ambers and Pearlie Barber; son, Bobby Simms; son-in-law, Richard White; granddaughter, Alaina White; daughter-in-law, Doris Sims; three sisters and five brothers. She leaves to cherish many memories; three sons, Robert (Julia) Sims, Madison Sims and Willie Simms; three daughters, Betty White, Evalena Helms and Carolyn (Irvin) Hill; six sisters, Pearlie Vaughn and Catherine Richardson of Dayton, Ohio, Madeen Williams of Newnan, Georgia, Ruby Kate Herd of Fairburn, Georgia, Lilla Mae Hill and Florie Hill of Atlanta Georgia; one brother, L.E. (Brenda) Smith of Cleveland, Ohio; 25 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren and family friend, Mary Jelks. Corine loved her family, her church, and her friends. She will be remembered as a faithful servant of God, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and most of all, a kind-hearted woman with a sweet, gentle spirit. Praises be to God for allowing her to bless our lives!
