Cornelia Midge (Holmes) Walker was born November 30, 1934, to James and Pauline Brown in Elizabethton, Tennessee. In 1941, her family moved to Columbus, Ohio where she received her education in the public school system. Midge attended The Ohio State University for a brief time, after which, she began a career with the federal government. After more than 36 years of dedicated service, she retired from the former Defense Construction Supply Center (now known as DSCC) in 1989. A lifelong member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Midge united with the body of Christ as a young girl on Easter Sunday in 1945. Through the years, she remained an active disciple of the church and served in various capacities as a member of the Junior Choir, Chancel Choir, Mass Choir, Assistant Treasurer of the church, and most recently as a current member of the Trustee Board. She was united in marriage to Thomas S. Holmes in August 1955 and, to this union, one child, Thomas Tony Holmes, was born. She greatly loved Tony and, in turn, he was an ever loving and devoted son. Midge departed this life on Saturday, July 12, 2014. She was preceded in death by her father, James Henry Brown, mother Pauline Brown Gray, brother Allen Brown, sister Nina Adams, maternal grandparents, James and Ollie Ervin, paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Benson Brown, aunts, Christine Phillips and Margaret (Ervin) Huff, uncle Thomas Ervin, and cousins, Billie Faye Smith, George Phillips, and Joanne Phillips. She is survived by her son, Thomas A. (Ramona) Holmes; grandchildren, Jason L. (Alison) Holmes, Jaime (Jarvis) Williams, and Dwayne (Summer) Johnson; great grandchildren, Amaya G. Holmes, Sierra Ivy, Dallas Johnson, Butter, Tennesha, and Ravene; first cousins, Jackie Ervin and Sandy (Robert) Davis; her church daughter, Sharon (Don) Robinson; goddaughter, Jodi Smith; many nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
