Curtis Edwards Jr

Curtis Allen Edwards, Jr. was born August 31, 1941 and departed this life suddenly on Monday, April 11, 2011 at his residence. He had a beautiful voice and loved singing on the street corner when he was young. Girls loved Curtis because of his curly, black hair. He was a ladies' man. Curtis was a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Navy. He joined the military at a young age and served his country for two terms as a lab technician on the U.S.S. Sanctuary before he was honorably discharged. Although he spent most of his life as a Columbus resident, Curtis also lived in Kansas City, Missouri for several years. He was very intelligent and he would read anything he could get his hands on. In his sparetime, he enjoyed working in his garden and was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes. Curtis also had a love for spicy foods and was always trying to get others to taste the hottest sauces he could find. He loved making people laugh, but above all, Curtis loved his family and friends. He is predeceased by his father Curtis Allen Jack Edwards, Sr., mother Ruth Lee Davis Edwards, and a son Danny Norris. Curtis leaves to cherish his memory, ten children, Cheryl Kato, Curtis (Debbie) Edwards, Anthony Edwards, Diane Oyancha, Frank (Ernestine) Edwards, Margaret Edwards, Angela Edwards, Jon Paul Marshall, Shayne Wells, and Wayne Wells; sister Margaret L. Edwards; 21 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; close niece and nephew LaTanya Edwards and Andre Edwards; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including best friend Linda Norris. Celebration of Life 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 19, 2011 in the chapel of DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long Street, where the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the start of service. Interment Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
