Dannette Mozelle Palmore was born in Columbus, Ohio, on July 26, 1949. She was the eldest of three children to Robert and Emogene Palmore and was a passionate, generous community servant, faithful Christian, and friend to many. She was also an equally loving sister, mother, and grandmother. A Columbus South HS graduate, "Danni" attended Capital University in Bexley, OH, where she developed her quick wit and a keen sense of the power of politics. As a staffer, she moved through the Ohio House of Representatives' ranks and joined Lt. Governor Richard Celeste's office and the Ohio Democratic Party. In 1988, Danni served as the National Deputy Director for Jesse Jackson's historic presidential campaign. The 1990's focused Danni's interests on local and statewide races, including those of Senator John Glenn, Governor Ted Strickland, and Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman. Among many other honors, Danni's accomplishments earned her recognition in Who's Who in American Politics and Campaign & Elections Magazine. She was a guest lecturer at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and used these experiences to launch PolicyWorks, consulting on many significant community projects, including the Long Street Cultural Wall in Columbus. Danni was a political and personal mentor to many and widely regarded as a force for good. Danni was also a fashionista, and she shared this passion through her Short North boutique, "Savvy on a Shoestring." A deacon of World Harvest Church, her good works throughout Columbus and contributions to others' personal and professional bests will be her legacy. And, of course, her famous Mac n' Cheese, Lobster Bisque, and Christmas snowball cookie recipes. Danni Palmore passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, January 15, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Emogene Palmore (Berry) and is survived by former spouse Glenn (Theodora) Clark; brothers, Kevin M. Palmore and Steven (Leslie) Palmore; children, Erika (Mark) Clark-Jones and Seth (Sharon) Clark; grandchildren, D. Elyas Ingram, Redd Coltrane Ingram, Mark A. Jones Jr., Celina M. Jones, Tyson X. Howard, Jackson C. Jones, and Avery C. Clark; great aunt Mary Moore; niece Sheronda A. Palmore; nephews Marcus (Abigail) Palmore, Adam R. Palmore, Marley A. Palmore, and a host of cousins, all of whom she loved fiercely.
