David Grayson Bartlett, 65, of Columbus, Ohio, departed this world on Monday, November 20, 2017, after a valiant and courageous battle with cancer. David entered this world on December 9, 1951, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, the youngest child of the late Clyde Bartlett, Jr. and Mary Turner Bartlett. David is survived by his loving and faithful wife, Consuella “Connie” Bartlett; his daughter Angela Burke; his granddaughter Ashley Wynn; his great-grandson Leiland Wynn; brothers Terrence “Pat” Bartlett (Eleanor) of Sarasota, FL, and Keith Bartlett of Columbus; sister Gay Bartlett Nash of Columbus; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by brothers Jeffrey, Meredith (“Mike”), and Dwight Bartlett. David was a longtime employee of the Columbus School District, where he made many friends and earned the respect of colleagues and supervisors alike. He had just retired on July 31 and was unexpectedly hospitalized just a few days later, so sadly he never had the opportunity to enjoy retirement and the days of fishing he was looking forward to. But maybe, just maybe, the fish will still be biting where he casts his next line. The family will receive friends in a celebration of David’s life on Tuesday, November 28, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at Diehl-Whittaker Funeral Home, 720 East Long Street, Columbus, OH 43203, 614-258-9549. Brief remarks from the family and a Military Funeral Honors ceremony will commence at 2:45 p.m.
