David Franklin Tartt was born on October 5, 1924 to Henry and Agnes Tartt in Bessermer, Alabama. The family later moved to Williamson, West Virginia where he graduated from Liberty High School. After serving in the U.S. Army, he returned to Williamson and began working in the coal mine. He met and married Gaynell Lee; and they relocated to Columbus, Ohio with their children; Samuel, Randy, Carol, Vivian, Stella, Debra, Donna and David. Upon arrival in Columbus, he worked for Kroger Bakery for over 40 years and retired in 1990. David enjoyed cars, fishing, pool, playing cards and pitching horseshoes. David never met a stranger; he loved talking to everyone he encountered. His daughter would call him “Friendly Fred.” On September 4, 2013, God chose to call him Home. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Annie B. Williams and Rosie Moorer; brothers, Henry and Eugene Tartt and children, Sammy, Randy and Donna. He leaves to cherish his memory, loving wife, Mary Tartt - his wife for a number of years who cared for him at home until she no longer could. God bless you; his children, Carol, Vivian, Stella, Debra and David; sisters, Minerva Coleman and Agnes Scott; stepsons, Ronald and David Goines; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
