David Jennings was born April 26, 1955 to Lillian Horton Jennings and John Jennings in Jersey City, New Jersey. He grew up on Armstrong Avenue, surrounded by family and friends, and went on to graduate from Snyder High School in Jersey City. On March 10, 1980, David entered the United States Army in Newark, New Jersey. During his two years of active duty service, Private First Class Jennings received the Marksman Badge for the M-16 Rifle, and the Army Service Ribbon. He was discharged under honorable conditions on July 27, 1982 at Fort Eustis in Newport News, Virginia. David later met and married the former Audrey C. Hightower of New York, and together, they made a home in Columbus, Ohio. For three years, David was employed by the Department of Environmental Services at The Ohio State University Medical Center, East Hospital, before he became too ill to continue working. He was a devoted husband and stepfather, as well as a wonderful step grandfather and friend. He was loved dearly by all of his family and friends.
