David Thomas Hartsoe

David T. Hartsoe was born December 2, 1952 to the late Barbara J. & Donald R. Hartsoe. He departed this life Sunday, September 20, 2020 surrounded by family at St. Ann’s Hospital after battling with cancer. David was preceded in death by his father Donald R. Hartsoe, mother Barbara J. Hartsoe, and brother Donald E. Hartsoe. David graduated from East High School, where he met the love of his life, Brenda. They dated for 10 years and finally tied the knot August 11, 1982. After practicing what parenting would be like with their niece, they had two beautiful girls. As a child David always wanted to become a firefighter and that dream came true December 11, 1978. David served as a firefighter with the Columbus Fire Department until September 18, 2010. He enjoyed watching The Ohio State Buckeyes Football and Basketball teams, the Cleveland Browns. Drag racing and Indy racing on TV and in person. He enjoyed watching Food Network and picking up new techniques to smoke briskets. He also enjoyed making his famous pineapple upside down cake. And taking his car to car shows with his nephew Tezz. David was a devoted husband and father who loved spending time with his wife, daughters, and two dogs. He also enjoyed entertaining family and friends and was full of jokes. He was a very lovable person and was surrounded by his wife, daughters, sister, brothers, nieces, nephews, family, and friends. There are so many stories and memories that could be shared, but it would take a lifetime to write. Survived by his wife Brenda, daughters Janell & Jennifer Hartsoe, Sister Belinda (Cortez) Haynes, Brothers Dennis Hartsoe, Darryl (Louvert) Hartsoe, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, family, friends and firefighter family. Special cousins Doug (Naomi) Bailey, Michael (Denise) Bailey, and Marsha (Ralph) Wood, special friends David Reid, Michael Hall, Phil Shank, Mack Nutter, Michael Smith and Mike Adams.
