Mrs. Della Mae Jefferson Long, 68, lifelong resident of Columbus, Ohio, entered eternal rest on Monday, September 27, 2010. Della was born on November 26, 1941. As a youth she joined the Trinity Baptist Church and was educated in the Columbus City School District. She retired from the Ohio Bell Telephone Company where she served faithfully for 30 years. During her tenure, she received numerous accolades and commendations for her exemplary service. She was preceded in death by her parents General T. Jefferson, Sr. and Linder Gooden Jefferson, sisters, Iola Jefferson Massey, Theresa Jefferson, Evelyn Jefferson Thomas, and Phyllis Long Jefferson, and a grandson Jalen T. Dukes. Della leaves to cherish the memory of her life, a devoted husband Colby Long; three sons, Henry H. Dukes, John T. Dukes, Sr. (Jewel), and Gregory A. Dukes, Sr. (Marcia); two daughters Ima Head (Shawn) and Denia Jefferson-Amos (James); grandchildren, John Jr., Gerrika, Alisha, Janai, Greg Jr., Jessica, Colby II, and Jordan; 3 great grandchildren; brothers, General Jr., Ernest Jefferson, Sr. (Mary), and Thomas Jefferson (Patsy); goddaughter Michelle Angelia Massey; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including lifelong friend Glenda Jefferson-Bond. Celebration of Life Service 11 a.m., Friday, October 1, 2010 at Trinity Baptist Church, 461 St. Clair Ave., where family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until start of service. Rev. Dr. Victor M. Davis, officiating. Interment Green Lawn Cemetery.
