On April 19, 1994, Demetreous Michael Davon Beard was born to Tracey Beard (the fifth of her six children); and to Gregory Thomas (the first of his four children). Demetreous was fondly known as “Meechie” by the Peaks and Anderson family, and also known as “Pookie” by the Beard family and other close family and friends. Demetreous was extremely gifted athletically, with a warm smile and a giving heart. He will always be known for his generosity and genuine child-like innocence. He loved sports, specifically basketball, being around family and friends, and being a father to his children. Demetreous started playing basketball at the age of two years old, learning in the family room of his grandparents’ home, on his Little Tike basketball hoop. His passion for basketball grew stronger as he became older and playing professional basketball for the NBA became his dream. He was a standout basketball player for Beatty Recreational Center and Sawyer Recreational Center, earning numerous awards and honors for his outstanding play and relentless effort. Demetreous, later, became a celebrated team member of the Linden McKinley H.S Varsity football and basketball teams. He earned All-City honors in football and All-City Honorable Mention in basketball. Demetreous was a giving, caring and genuine young man. He volunteered his free time at the St. John Community Center’s “Soup Kitchen”. In May of 2012, he graduated and received his high school diploma from Alum Crest High School in Columbus, Ohio. He enrolled into Columbus State Community College during the spring quarter of 2013, in hopes of furthering his education and to walk on and play for the men’s basketball team. Loving memories are shared by the love of his life, Nikita Smith, and their children Demetr’uanna and Demetreous Beard, Jr. Brothers: Timothy, Brandon, Tjuan, Taesean; Sisters: Rakia, Natasha, Amara, Taja; Nieces: Brooklin, Faith; Nephews: Dennym, Sir Brandon; Favorite Grandparents Gregory and Deborah Peaks; Favorite Aunt Sequena and Favorite Uncle Shawn, Special Mom: Winky Smith, and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and dear, close friends.
