Denise L. Walls, age 64, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Georgia. She was born on December 12, 1959, in Columbus, Ohio to Joyce A. Burkes and adopted by David L. Burkes. She graduated from East High School in Columbus, Ohio and was most recently employed by Computacenter as a Project Manager. Prior to that she was employed for 8 years at Comm Works as a Project Manager. Denise had an entrepreneurial spirit. Over the years, she founded various businesses some of which included: The Deepest Entertainment Company, Rich Earth Boxes, and Whereverse Travel Blog. She was a social media influencer and had 14.5K followers on various social media platforms.
Denise was a believer in Jesus Christ and regularly attended Friendship Baptist Church in Duluth, GA. Before she moved to Georgia, she was a long-time member of Refuge Baptist Church, where she served in various ministries. Denise loved to travel, read books, watch old movies, crafting, painting and blogging. She was very creative, highly organized and very resourceful. Denise was wise and very bossy. She was always giving advice (solicited and unsolicited), and confronting foolishness.
Denise was preceded in death by her Parents: Joyce Ann Burkes and David L. Burkes, Grandparents: Marty Ratliff, Olden W. Franklin Sr., Uncle Mark L. Ratliff, Aunt Gail G. Bailey, cousins Terrance D. Franklin, Lisa Bailey, and Tina Franklin, and nephew David K. Burkes Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory loving partner Darrell Toney, her uncles Olden Wesley
(Pat) Franklin, Ralph (Janet) Burkes, daughters, Lisa Burkes, Lakeisha Burkes, Cherise (Douglas Shaw) Robinson, Larissa (Marcus) Thompson, son Aaron (Asia Morton) Burkes, grandchildren: Brianna Mack, Nakki Burkes, Erin Burkes, Lloyd (Lj) Williams, Lucy Ann Shaw, Brooklyn Burkes, siblings: sister Debra (John) Ward, brothers David Keith Burkes, Darren Lee (Barbara) Burkes, special friend LaShana Ross, nephews, Darren Lee (Dj) Burkes Jr., Nathan Ward, Demetrius Ross, nieces, Ashleigh Burkes, Brittney Burkes, Keishanta Dannell Ross, with a host of cousins, other loving family members, and friends who will truly miss her.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with a Funeral Service immediately following at Rhema Christian Center 2100 Agler Rd, Columbus, OH 43224. Burial will follow to Glen Rest Memorial Estate in procession.
