DeWan Michele Herrell, “Aunt Wannie or Cuz”, was born May 3, 1966 in Delaware, Ohio to the union of Norman and Sheila Herrell. She unexpectedly passed on March 10, 2019 in Delaware, Ohio. DeWan was a 1984 graduate of Delaware Hayes High School where she a member of Varsity Track, Band (clarinet), and the Drill Team. On December 21, 1982, DeWan gave birth to the joy of her life, Arlen E. Herrell. He was the center of her universe from the day he was born. Appropriately, his first name begins with an “A” because he was her A1 from day one. Dewan was employed by The Ohio Department of Transportation (1986 – 1988) and Honda of America Marysville, Ohio (1988 – 2019) where in 2017, DeWan was one of few selected at Honda to work at the Performance Manufacturing Center to build the Acura NSX, which was the only supercar built in the U.S. DeWan loved to cook, and she would always make you feel like it was the easiest thing in the world to do. But no one could duplicate what she did in the kitchen. She was a home improvement queen, there was always a project – she was the definition of DIY. You could help, but she wasn’t going to wait for you. DeWan loved her dogs, Mama and RoK, but most of all she loved her family and friends. A loving mother, daughter, aunt, sister, cousin, friend, and co-worker to so many – she leaves an empty space that no one can fill. We will miss forever her laugh, her bright eyes, her quick and sharp wit, and that bright and beautiful smile. DeWan was preceded in death by her father, Norman Eugene Herrell; and she leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Arlen Eugene Herrell; mother, Sheila A. Herrell; brothers, Chris Kirk, Michael Herrell, John Dye; sisters, Nora Beth Herrell, Pat White Sutton, Renee White Tillery; nieces, Talisha Herrell, LaTisha Herrell, Natalie (Jorden) Kirk, Valerie (Ed) Kirk, Tiffiany Jackson, and Angela Jackson; nephews, Norman Herrell, Michael Herrell Jr., Keyan Herrell, Jonathan Herrell, Isaiah Harrell, Elijah Harrell, and Cortland S. Green II; devoted cousins, Gina Green, Kim Broadnax, Kamilah Diaw, Eric Cloud, and Anthony Sutton; and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
