Diana Marie (Boston) Johnson, 73, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by love from family and friends on October 28, 2024, following a courageous battle with endometrial cancer.
She was born in Columbus, Ohio on September 17, 1951, to the late Edmond and Edith (Moore) Boston. In addition to her parents, Diana was preceded in death by Grandparents George and Mary Moore and Willie and Carrie Boston; brothers Edmond, Lorenzo, and Kenneth Boston; and nephews RoShawn and DeJour Lindsey, and Tyquan Hawkins.
Diana is survived by three loving sons Damiso (April) Johnson, Michael Johnson (Destiny Brown) and Jayson Johnson; partner of 20 years Renie Nelson; ex-husband Michael Johnson (Linda Austin); siblings Calvin (Patricia) Boston, Marchella Boston, Sunseerae (Robert) Lindsey, and Keith Boston; former daughter-in-law LaKisha Haynie Johnson; grandchildren Michael, Trezden, Kiara and Kenedi Johnson; aunt Clara Shirver; former siblings-in-law Monica Boston, Arthur (Connie) Johnson, Joyce (Pete) Lindsey, Horace (Veronica) Johnson, Stephanie Johnson, and DeWayne Johnson; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and adoring friends including Sandy Eubanks and lifelong best friend of 60 years Sandra Ross.
Diana graduated from East High High School in 1970 and remained a proud and active alumnae organizing regular reunions and celebrations
with her fellow classmates.
She attended Ohio State University before beginning her 40-year career holding multiple roles of increasing responsibilities at Chase Bank (formerly Bank One) from which she ultimately retired as a manager in 2009.
In 2012, Diana came out of retirement to continue contributing to the community by working part-time at YWCA Columbus as an administrative assistant. In addition to exploring the country through her travels, enjoying live jazz performances, and having thought-provoking conversations with family and friends about politics, Diana was an active member of the Gentry Landing Condominium Association board of directors.
For over 30 years, Diana was a devout member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the Adult Choir and Pastoral Choir.
Loved ones will celebrate Diana’s life on Friday, November 8 with visitation at 9:00-10:00 a.m. and services at 10:00 a.m. at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church (1775 W Broad St, Columbus, OH 43223), Pastor Dr. Scottie L. Aaron presiding. Guests are encouraged to wear her favorite colors of black and gold. Internment at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens (5600 E Broad Street, Columbus, OH, 43213).
