Dixon Jenkins Sr

Dixon F. Jenkins, Sr., 78, of Columbus, OH, formerly of Dayton, passed away at his residence January 10, 2017. He was born to the late Lyda and Lawrence D. Jenkins on April 20, 1938 in Cairo, IL. Dixon grew up in Dayton and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1956. In 1963, he earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from The Ohio State University and went on to make his mark in engineering while employed by the State of Ohio Department of Natural Resources. During his career, he worked on many projects around the Columbus area including bridges, park boat ramps, parking lots, as well as various ODOT projects. In 2002, he retired from the state to spend time doing what he truly loved, spending time with his family, supporting his beloved Buckeyes, and playing golf. He leaves many friends and family members to cherish his memory including his three children, Mallory (Derrick Sr.) Coleman of Columbus, Dixon II (Jamie) of Woodstock, GA, and Ronald L. of Columbus; brother Lawrence Jenkins of Mesa, AZ; nine grandchildren, Marcus, Maria, E’ja, India, Justice, Tai, Dixon III, Derrick Jr., and Phoenix; two great grandchildren, Lillianna and Ramir; special nephew Brent Jenkins; and many cousins.
