Donald Lee Robinson

Donald Lee Robinson was born on January 25, 1969, in Columbus, Ohio, to parents John Sr. Robinson and Donna Yarborough (Robinson). Donald was educated in the Columbus Public School system graduating in 1987 from Eastmoor Academy High School. Donald went on to further his education receiving an Associate Degree in Marketing, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Franklin University. He also received a Master’s Degree in Business Management from Ashland University. Donald always knew the importance of education and went back to school receiving his Ph.D. in Business Management from Northwestern University. Donald joined the military in 1987 enlisting in the U.S. Navy where he was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. While stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, he met the love of his life, Vickie Marie Thomas. They were united in holy matrimony on November 16, 1991. Out of this beautiful union was born a son Darius Lathun and daughter Destanie Le’Shawn. Donald served in the Navy for 9 years and was on assignment during Desert Storm, and he retired from the military in 1996. Donald and Vickie relocated to Columbus in 1996. Donald was a business man and knew the value of having a good work ethic, as well as understanding the importance of providing for his family. He worked several jobs, assuring his wife and their children wanted for nothing. Donald was employed with the Federal Government where he retired in 2015. Even when Donald’s health began to fail, he made certain Vickie, their two children, and five grandchildren were provided for. He had a love for beautiful bright flowers in his yard. He provided specific instructions on what he wanted planted and how to take care of them. During his last hospitalization he was specific with his wife and the medical staff on how he wanted to be cared for and what should happen. He knew the Lord and would say, “I may not go to church often, but I know God takes care of me and my family.” Donald is preceded in death by father, John Robinson, Sr., grandfather, Harold Yarborough, Sr., father-in-law, Edward Thomas Sr., Step father-in law Ralph Helms Sr., mother-in-law Mildred Helms, brother-in-law Edward Thomas Jr. and several other family members. On Saturday, December 8, 2018, Donald received his notice from the Lord it was time to take his permanent rest. No more pain and no more suffering. He peacefully transitioned surrounded by his family. Donald leaves to cherish his memory wife, Vickie Marie Robinson; mother, Donna Yarborough Rollie; son, Darius (Jordan); daughter Destanie (Dametrius); brother, John Robinson, Jr; grandchildren, Rylen, Kimberly, Harper, Damar and D’Mya; grandmother Mrs. Oretha Yarborough; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces.
