Donald C. Myers II, was born in Bluefield, West Virginia on March 3, 1974 to the late Donald Myers I and Nadine Oakes. Donald grew up in the church community and was a member of Mt. Zion Pentecostal Church. Growing up, Donald was an honor roll student and was the top classmate in his gifted programs. He also excelled in football and basketball. He was the starring running back for Brookhaven High School from 1991-1993. There wasn’t a problem “Lil Don” couldn't solve either in sports or academics. As a young man, Donald was very loving and compassionate; but unfortunately he started battling mental illness by the age of 17. Through Don’s many challenges over the years, he remained loving, loyal, compassionate and caring to everyone that knew him. Even through the darkness of his illness, his family always saw the light of his love shining bright. Donald was called home on Monday, July 31, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandfather, Odell Oakes and grandmother, Florrie Oakes. “Lil Don” is survived by his brother, Brandon Myers; niece, Brandy Myers; half-sister, Tirameka Myers; and a host of aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.
