Donald Williamson

Donald Williamson, Sr. was born to the late James and Vendetta Williamson on July 18,1933 in Columbus, Ohio. In 1955, Donald married his sweetheart, Ella Ruth Crenshaw. From their union, three children; Christine, Donald, Jr. and Jack, were born.

Donald served in the United State Army where he was honorably discharged after fighting in the Korean War. After his military service, Donald was employed as a Mail Handler for the U.S. Postal Service, Ohio Peace Officer, and Securitas Security. Among his numerous joys in life, one was singing in the Friendship Baptist Church Men’s choir.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents, James and Vendetta Williamson; his soulmate and loving wife, Ella Ruth Williamson; five brothers; James (Jim), Richard (Dick), Robert (Bob), Frederick (Fred), and Paul; and one sister, Virginia Crosby.

Donald is survived by his children; Christine Williamson Butler of Columbus, Ohio; Donald (Janet) Williamson, Jr. of Columbus, Ohio and Jack D. Williamson of Las Vegas, Nevada; five grandchildren; Nicole (Michael) Christian, Natalie Butler, Donald Christopher (Shantel) Williamson, Danielle (Brian) Haney, and Felicia Jackson; and six Great-Grandchildren. He leaves behind a special friend, Francis Anders and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 4th, 2023 from 9:00 - 10:00 am with a Funeral Service immediately following at Friendship Baptist Church, 1775 W Broad St, Columbus, OH 43223. Burial will follow in procession to Greenlawn Cemetery.
