Donna Bell Tyler

January 16, 1938 — April 19, 2014

Donna Bell Tyler passed away Saturday April 19, 2014 at Summit’s Trace Healthcare Center in Columbus, Ohio. Born January 16, 1938 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the late Tommie and Eloise (Marks) Cook, she was predeceased in death by her son Richard Tyler, her ex-husband William Tyler, sisters Maynella Page, Dorothy Williams, Mary Cook and brothers Arthur, Willie and Tommie Cook. She is survived by her daughter Ivery Lee Tyler; sons, Walter, William (Tawana), Robert, Paul and Wayne; sister, Octavia James; brothers Floyd and Joe (Gwen) Cook; daughter-in-law and special friend Franshawn Tyler and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Donna, affectionately called “Donnie Bell” or “Big Donna”, was a giving person whose primary concern was providing for her children and grandchildren. After raising her own children she also raised four grandchildren. She worked many years taking care of young children at Creative Childcare. Later in life Donna was employed by and retired from Riverside Methodist Hospital. It took Donna a little longer to drive to work because she absolutely would not drive the freeways! Donna enjoyed buying family and Christian-themed figurines which she proudly displayed in her home, along with numerous family photos. She was always buying the latest perfumes and fragrances at Lazarus/Macy’s and really enjoyed shopping at JC Penny. “Donnie Bell” loved to bargain-hunt and she often frequented thrift stores with family and friends. Donna was a terrific cook, having taught many family members how to make a great macaroni and cheese. Through the years, Donna attended Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church and Travelers Rest Baptist Church. Before moving to Summit’s Trace, Donna resided at Worley Terrace until she was no longer able to live independently. Although soft spoken and somewhat shy, she would greet the other residents and was often complimented on her beautiful gray hair. This is but a small indication of Donna’s life. She was so much more than this. “Donnie Bell” will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
