Donna Sparrow Harris

Donna Marie Sparrow Harris was the daughter of Joyce Ann Clark and Wheeler W. Sparrow Sr. She was born in Columbus, OH on August 27, 1951. On Sunday March 6, 2011, Donna transitioned to Heaven. She attended St. John 23rd Catholic School for her primary education until her mother married Robert Evans and moved her to Cleveland, OH. When the family returned to Columbus, Donna completed high school, graduating from Marion Franklin in 1968. Donna loved to travel and in 1972 she joined the United States Army; where she served as a Medical Assistant in Germany. After her honorable discharge, that same year, she gave birth to her only daughter, Nykole Lynn Sparrow. In spite of many challenges, Donna was a dedicated and determined mother who worked hard to provide the best for her child. After many struggles, in February 1990, Donna made a commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and started her “new” journey to success and recovery. Donna obtained an Associate degree from Columbus State in 1999 and a Bachelor of Science degree from Capital University, Bexley, OH in 2006. Donna was employed as a social worker/counselor by the YMCA. For more than 9 years, she served her clients with great commitment, often working extra hours. She was forced to retire early in 2008. Donna was a member of the NA organization, where she affected many members lives for 21 years. After Donna joined New Birth Christian Ministries, she enjoyed attending Bible Study and learning the Word of God. She was very faithful until her health failed. Left to mourn her passing, daughter, Nykole Lynn Sparrow; granddaughter, Tae’lor Ann Sparrow; father, Wheeler Sparrow Sr.; brothers, Wheeler Sparrow Jr., Robert Nathaniel Evans, Douglas W. Sparrow, Darryl Evans (Cheryl) of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Wanda Marshall (Leon) and Robbin Evans; uncle, Kenneth Sparrow (Mae); special aunts, Carol Sparrow of Glen Burnie, MD and Marjorie of Broken Arrow, OK; special friends, Paul Long, Anita Walker, and Cheryl Heller; a host of cousins, nieces and nephews too numerous to name; and her faithful pet companion, “Diva”.
