Life for Donney H. Ellis began in Griffin, Georgia September 29, 1956. He was the younger of two children born to Anthony and Earnestine Boynton Ellis. He began his education in Griffin. After his parents divorced Donney and Brother Zachary moved with their mother to Columbus, Ohio where he became a lifelong resident. Donney was educated and graduated from the Columbus Public Schools. He entered the United States Army and after serving his term was honorably discharged and returned to Columbus. He was employed by the Ohio State Patrol serving as an inspector and later became a night clerk and security person for National Church Residence Company. He retired in September 2021. He was a skilled craftsman and a handyman at minor home repairs in his spare time. Proceeded in death by his father and mother, Donney leaves to cherish his memory a son Donney, affectionately called “Little Donney”; other children, Lauren and Radell Gilmore; two brothers, Zachery (Jackie) and Keith R. Baraka; two sisters, Yolanda and Phyllis Ellis; stepfather, Dr. Willie C. Glover (Karen); and a host of other loving close relatives and friends.
