Dora Riley Jordan, age 91, of The Villages, FL, formerly of Columbus, OH, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 in Florida. Born in Lula, GA, she was a graduate of Central High School, The Ohio State University, Xavier University, Howard University, and Columbia University. Mrs. Jordan was a retired guidance counselor and elementary educator for the Columbus Public School Systems; she received her second Master’s degree at the age of 85. A Presbyterian, she belonged to the Chapel of Christian Faith in The Villages (Florida); and is a member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church of Columbus, OH. Dora was a past member of The Guiding Lights, and The Elegance, both in Columbus. She was one of the founders of The Villages African-American Club; and also held memberships in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, The Write Corner, and the National Organization of Negro and Professional Women; she was a brilliant homemaker. She was predeceased by her parents, John Wesley and Ethel (Brock) Riley; brother, John Wesley Riley, Jr.; daughter, Cheryl Lynn Doolittle; and former husband, Pinkney Wilberforce Jordan. She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Jacquelyn Jordan, of Houston, TX; twin sons, Rodney Jordan, of Detroit, MI; and Ronald (Melodee) Jordan, of Houston, TX; a son-in-law, Sammy Doolittle; five grandchildren, Guy (Rose) Sanford, Tamara Parson, Otis Williams, III; Chase Jordan, and Jasmine Williams; five great-grandchildren, Lauren Sanford, Ashley Sanford, Mercedes Parson, Trelynn Williams, and Reberto Parson; a niece, Audrey Kidd; nephew, Wesley Riley and a host of nephews, nieces and dear friends.
