Doris Elaine Hash Leftwich was born February 8, 1934, in Jenkins Jones, West Virginia, to James Kelbie and Arlie Hampton Hash. At age 87, she departed this earthly life, on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at Laurels of Gahanna, Ohio, assured by Corinthians 5:1, amplified version, . . . if the earthly tent (our physical body) which is our house is torn down (through death), we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. Doris graduated from Gary District Negro High School in 1952. She married her childhood sweetheart, Leander “Lee” Leftwich. With Lee being a career military officer he, Doris and their son, Douglas traveled to San Antonio, Texas; Fountainblue, France; DeRidder, Louisiana; and finally settling in Columbus, Ohio. After relocating to Columbus, she joined the Antioch Baptist Church in 1968 under the pastorate of Reverend Ervin L. Brogsdale. At Antioch she was a member of the Trustee Board, Faithful Ruth Missionary, Nurses Ministry, the Devotional Ministry, the Mass Notes Newspaper Ministry, the Sunday School, the Heavenly Echo Choir, and Mission Chorus. Doris also served as the attendance clerk and craft director of Vacation Bible School for many years. She retired from The Ohio State University after 20 years of service. Doris had gifted hands displaying her talent in knitting, crocheting, making afghans, creating beautiful ceramic art which she loved donating to others. Preceded in death by her mother, Arlie (Clifton) Cochran; father Kelbie (Cora Lee) Hash; brother, William Chester Hash; sisters, Irene Eunice (James) Williams, Mary Evelyn Colter; and former husband, Leander Leftwich. Doris leaves to cherish her memory, son, Douglas Leftwich; sister, Patricia Walker, grandsons, Cameron Leftwich Baker, Travis Demond Leftwich, Michael Douglas Leftwich; nephews, James Williams, Eric Williams, Trent Williams, Anthony Walker; Shawn Riggins; niece, Devon Colter Riggins; cousins, Lucille (Harold) Ragland, Beatrice Holcomb, Geraldine Daniels, Lynda Peoples, Alton (Faith) Hash, Gary (Colette) Hash, Howard (Deborah) Hash; godson, Michael Jermaine Frazier; many other relatives, and The Antioch Baptist Church family.
