Dorothea Mae 'Doe' Matthews

Ms. Dorothea Mae Matthews was born to William and Ada Belle Matthews in Columbus, Ohio on May 6, 1941. Dorothea worked for many years as a nursing assistant and was a long time member of Macedonia Baptist Church until her health began to fail. “Doe” or “Aunt Doe”, as she was affectionately called by her family and close friends, was the most generous, loving person who was always there whenever any one of us needed her. She will be greatly missed by any and all that knew her. On June 8, 2013, Dorothea lost her valiant battle declining health which she fought courageously and with dignity. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Theodore Matthews, Fayell (Eleanor) Hill and Margie Ramsey. She leaves to cherish her memory her only son, William Matthews, her grandsons; William Barnett and William DaShawn Matthews ; great grandchildren, Gary, Karla, Shondalica , JaShawn and Asontanae Barnett; nieces Bobby Jean Matthews, Angela Sylla, Victoria Ramsey and Marjorie Ramsey; nephews, Walter Ramsey Jr., Jacob Ramsey, Antonio Ross and Roger Ramsey and a host of family and friends.
