Dorothy Mae 'Dottie' (Daniels) Joseph

Dorothy Mae (Daniels) Joseph went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 8, 2013. Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Dorothy was a “Class of 1951” graduate of Xavier University in New Orleans, where she also met her husband of 40 years, Stephen Joseph. A resident of Columbus for the past 60 years, she was a member of the Medical Arts Club, and retired from the State of Ohio Bureau of Food Stamps after 25 years. An active member of St. Dominic Parish, Dorothy was a member of the Alter Rosary Society and Visitors for Christ; she loved her church family as if they were her own. Even when she could no longer attend mass due to illness, she made it her duty to maintain her place in the church. Never without her prayer book or rosary, Dorothy was a God-fearing, God-loving woman, and she instilled that quality in everyone she met. Dorothy was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend who enjoyed being with her loved ones, praying, reading, shopping and watching classic movies. Never a harsh word, and always a beautiful smile, she welcomed everyone with open arms and a warm heart. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Joseph, Jr., parents, Wilbert A. Daniels, Sr. and Myrtle Dupree Daniels, and brother, Wilbert Daniels Jr. She leaves behind to cherish her beloved memory, daughter Cheryl Joseph Latimer; son Michael (Lorraine) Joseph of Copley, Ohio; granddaughters, Keya Crenshaw and Lauren Joseph; grandsons, Stephen Latimer and Samuel Joseph; special cousin Ruby Downs; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and special friends. She will always be loved and greatly missed. We love you “Maw Maw” and we know we will see you again.
