Dorothy Mae Lockett

Dorothy Mae Lockett, was born to Samuel David and Evelyn Dixon in Columbus, Ohio. Dorothy graduated high school and upon doing so, met her sweetheart , Henry Lee Lockett, who she married and had six children. Dorothy worked at Grant Hospital, Environmental Services for 30 years until her retirement. Through the pain of losing her husband of 47 years in March 2013 and the passing of her sister in June 2013, she fought her own personal battle well and smiled through it all. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Evelyn Dixon, husband, Henry Lockett, daughter, Darlene Lockett, sister, Alfreda Melvin, grandchildren, Terry Whitesides, Lamont Cumberlander, Stephon Womick and Daeonna Lockett. She leaves to mourn her loss; children, Linda Whitesides, Henry Dixon, Robert Lockett, John Lockett , Allen (Richelle) Dixon, three sisters-in-laws, Bessie Sanders, Susie Mae Lockett and Sadie Kemper; brother-in-law, L.C. (Lucille) Lockett of Roberta, Ga.; aunts, Mary Griffith, Mary L. Davis of Musella, Ga., and Tommie Dent of Cullodon Ga.;, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Favorite granddaughter, helper and caretaker, Jatia Love; Best friend: Daisy Bates.
