Drema Brown, beloved mother, grandmother, and dedicated professional, passed away on March 31, 2024, at the age of 74. Born on April 19, 1949 in Beckley, West Virginia (WV). She is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. S. A. Abram and Naomi Edmonds Abram; brothers, Samuel Jr., George, Edward and Raymond. She is survived by her two sons, Timothy and Patrick (Cassandra); sister, Kathryn Abram Duckett; five grandchildren, Peyton, Seth, Ryan, Logan, and Alex; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Her children were not only her children but also her pride and joy. Drema adored her role as a mother and poured her heart into nurturing and supporting Timothy and Patrick throughout their lives. Her legacy extends further through her cherished grandchildren, she found immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren, showering them with love, wisdom, and endless affection. Her presence in their lives was a beacon of warmth and guidance. She lived a life marked by love, compassion, and commitment to her family and community.
Drema graduated from Stratton High School in Beckley, WV in 1967, and continued her education at Marshall University and Franklin University receiving her degree in Business Administration in 1971. She dedicated herself to serving others as she worked tirelessly for the Ohio Civil Rights Commission as a Public Information Officer; her commitment to justice and equality was unwavering, and she made significant contributions to her community through her work. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Drema had a passion for travel.
Exploring new places and experiencing different cultures brought her immense happiness and enriched her life in countless ways.
Drema Brown's memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her kindness, generosity, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and colleagues. Though she may no longer walk among us, her legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm with a Funeral Service immediately following at Diehl-Whittaker Funeral Service, 1370 East Main Street, Columbus, Ohio 43205.
