Earnestine Coates

Earnestine Geneva Coates also known as “Tina” to everyone was a devoted Witness to Jehovah, and she departed this life June 6, 2024 at Ohio Health Pickerington Methodist hospital. Earnestine was born August 13,1938 in Vivian, WV to the late Johnnie Coates Sr and Jesse B Long.

She graduated from Kimball High School in WV, years later she went on to pursue a career as a cosmetologist.

Earnestine and her long time companion of 47 years Jesse B Mckinley Sr lived happily until he fell asleep in death on December 24, 2008 in Columbus Ohio.

Preceded in death by son Edward E. Coates, daughters Kim R.Coates and Terry B. Coates, sister Sonjia L. Coates, brother Johnnie Coates Jr and grandson Dai’Juan L.O Coates.

She leaves behind two daughters Alisa(Coates)Scott( Michael) Scott and Sonia Coates, two bonus daughters Tanika Coates and La’Sharrah(Clarence) Jones, four sisters Sandra(Jerry) Crawford, Edith(Samuel) Terry both from Yonkers, Ny. Nianzia(Glen) Sanders, Sharon Coates, brother Ezzard(Broda)Coates and a bonus brother William(Terraine) Long all of Columbus Ohio.

She leaves behind her best friend and granddaughter Brandi Coates. Earnestine leaves behind 23 nieces and nephews 16 grandkids and a host of great grands and great great grands.

Our Matriarch and queen was a dedicated loving, and caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was loved by all and will be dearly missed.
