Eatoy Harris

May 16, 1927 — April 17, 2021

Eatoy Harris was born on May 16, 1927 in Carson Lake, Arkansas. On Saturday, April 17, 2021, God sent an angel to guide her home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Eatoy was born to the union of the late Paul and Eatoy (Darling) Harris. Eatoy attended Carson Rosenwald High School in Carson Lake, Arkansas. Eatoy professed her faith in Christ at an early age, ending her commitment to God at Macedonia Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board and was a member of the Kitchen Committee and Lend A Hand Missionary Society. In April of 1965, Eatoy gave birth to her one and only daughter, Janice. In August of 1984, her love, her grandson, Marcus was born. Eatoy was a resident of Columbus, OH since the age of 15. She enjoyed baking her "famous" sweet potato pies and collecting bells. She enjoyed watching and celebrating The Ohio State University Buckeyes and the Cleveland Cavaliers! When her health permitted, she enjoyed water aerobics and bus trips. Eatoy was employed by The Ohio State University for 25 years before retiring in 1987. Eatoy was preceded in death by both parents Paul and Eatoy Harris and her step-father, William Stewart; her sisters Effie Ford and Velma Ware and her brother James Harris, (aka “Heavy”). She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Janice Harris of Columbus, Ohio; her grandson, Marcus Harris of Crescent Springs, Kentucky. One brother, Herbie Johnson of Columbus, Ohio. Special family: Veronica and Nia Dixon, James Wade, and The Margulies family. Eatoy also leaves to cherish her: Sally Tarver, Barbara Ann Whithers, Ruby Thomas, a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, numerous friends, extended family, and her Macedonia Baptist Church family. We are thankful for the precious memories of Eatoy and will truly, truly miss her!
