Eddie James Jones entered this life on June 13, 1940 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. After his 1957 graduation from East High School in Columbus, Ohio, Eddie enlisted in the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged and resided in California for a short time, subsequently relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Eddie was employed by St. Luke and Episcopal Hospitals in Philadelphia, where he acquired extensive knowledge of the medical profession. He established an excellent rapport with hospital staff and was well respected by his colleagues. He retired in 2002 after more than 30 years of loyal service and relocated to Columbus. Eddie was an avid listener and huge fan of jazz music; Miles Davis was his all-time favorite musician. A generous man who loved his family, he possessed a relaxed, yet outgoing personality with an equally abiding sense of humor. He was an Elk member of the Harvey H. Alston Lodge #1755 in Columbus. Eddie departed to eternal rest on May 25, 2014 at age 73 with his sons at his side. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert P. Jones and mother, Helen S. Payne. He leaves behind three loving sons to cherish his memory; Antonio Seldon, of Philadelphia, PA, Kacey Logan of Columbia, SC and Christiaan (Melissa) Jones of Aurora, CO. In addition, he is survived by brothers, Costonia Jones, Jr. of Indianapolis, IN and Olander Jones; aunts Jeanette Butler and Bertha Smith; uncle, David Smith of (NC); close cousin, Otelia Cannon of Philadelphia; niece, Chelyne N. Jones; 10 grandchildren, 2 great-nieces and many other family members and friends.
