EDDIE LEE UPCHURCH, son of Seabron and Lucille Upchurch, was born March 4, 1932 In Eutaw, Alabama. He was predeceased in death by his father, Seabon Upchurch, mother, Lucille Upchurch, brother, Ezell, sister, Mattie, grandson, Calvin Upchurch Jr., and granddaughters, Nasasha Jones and DaAunta Upchurch. Eddie’s life was spent with many great people, some of which referred to him as “Rabbit”, “Rab”, and “Rabo”, others knew him as Squirrel. In 1955, he married the love of his life, Rudell. To this union eight wonderful children were born. In 1970, they relocated to Columbus, Ohio. Eddie was employed at Columbus Steel Drum for four years. He then began his career as Head Custodian at Trinity United Methodist Church, where he remained until his retirement in 1997. Eddie loved spending time with his family and friends. His favorite hobby was fishing, which he would do several days a week from sunrise to early evening. Eddie also enjoyed gardening, for the past 35 years he has produced an extremely productive garden. He enjoyed music, both gospel and the blues. Some of his favorites were Al Green, the Mighty Clouds of Joy, B.B. King, and Aretha Franklin. Each year Eddie and his immediate family would travel to Alabama where he enjoyed spending time with family and friends and laughing about pastimes. Eddie’s most relaxing time of the day was spent laughing, sharing stories, and eating good food with his family and friends, which he continued to do until Monday, February 11, 2013, at which time the Lord sent Angels to bring home one of his great children. Eddie leaves to cherish his memories; his wife, Rudell Upchurch, 9 children; Richard (Gayle), Eddie, Debra (Richard), June, Dennis, Vickie, Barry (Altimeice), Calvin (Shalonda), adopted son Terry (Joyce) Maye, brothers and sisters, Artis (Gladys) Upchurch, Anne Lois Williams, Thorton (Christine), Lelia Ellis, Benny (Betty) Upchurch, 26 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
