Edith Annette Stanley Zaahir, affectionately known as “Edie”, was born June 1, 1947 to Charlie F. Stanley and Elsie M. Langston Stanley in Jasper, Georgia. During her school years, Edith’s family relocated to Columbus, Ohio, where she graduated from Central High School in 1966. A longtime member of NA and CA, Edith celebrated 22 years clean on October 18, 2015. She was also a faithful member of Mount Olivet Baptist Church, where she helped to create a recovery program called the F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Ministry, which was later renamed the Overcomer’s Ministry. She was employed as a child care provider for over twenty years and shared her love and care for children by also faithfully serving as a leader in the church nursery. Edith departed this life March 4, 2016, after a ten month battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jimmy Lee Stanley, and sister Monica Lynn Davis. She leaves to cherish her memory, son Kenneth (Kelley) Stanley; daughter Qismat Zaahir (Carlos) Pickens; brothers, Charles Stanley, Joseph Stanley, Melvin Stanley, and Stanley Andre Davis; sister Patricia Daniels of Canton, Georgia; grandchildren, Arian (Christian) Davis, Wayne Williams, Jr., Kendall Zaahir, Ember Zaahir, Mara Smith, King David Litzy, Sir Jonathan Wilder, Niona Crawford, Makai Davis, Kamille Stanley, Kameron Stanley, and Kamya Stanley; six great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, cousins; and her special aunt Brenda Davis Honnaker; along with many dear and close friends.
