Edna Charlene Dunlap

Edna Charlene Dunlap departed this life on Sunday, October 23, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 28, 1928 in Henry, Tennessee to the union of Roe and Brooksie Porter. Charlene professed her faith in Christ at an early age and was an active member of Coles Chapel C.M.E. Church where she served as the church pianist. She was united in holy matrimony to Robert L. Dunlap on September 24, 1949 and had two children Mark and Michelle. The Dunlap family moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1969 and became members of Bethel A.M.E. Church where she served on Stewardess Board #3 and the Anna Battle Missionary Society. As well as being a homemaker Charlene was a loving child care provider to dozens of children in the Linden Community. In her spare time she was a master seamstress fashioning garments for members of organizations such as the Cupidettes, the Eastern Star and various formal events in the city. She is preceded in death by her parents Roe and Brooksie Porter and one brother Verlon L. Porter. Left to mourn her memory is her devoted husband of 67 years Robert, one son Markus (Yolanda) Dunlap, daughter Michelle R. Dunlap; three grandchildren; Eight great-grandchildren. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends to celebrate her life.
