Edward Fletcher was born February 21, 1921 in Rome, Georgia to Jesse and Birt Fletcher. He grew up in Gore Spring, Georgia where he attended elementary school. At a very early age, Edward accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and attended Gore Spring Methodist Church. On December 28, 1965 in Rome Georgia Edward married Lila M. Montgomery and subsequently moved to Columbus, Ohio. Edward was a member of Love Zion Baptist Church and was a member of the Male Chorus. He was preceded in death by his mother, Birt Fletcher; father, Jesse Fletcher; sister, Ilene Reed; brother, Howard Fletcher; wife, Lila M. Fletcher; and daughter, Imogene R. Doty. Edward retired from the Defense Supply Construction Company after thirty-nine years of service as a Property Inspector. Edward served in the Army from 1942 to 1946 and he was a member of the American Legion. He was also a member of the Masonic Organization. Edward dearly loved his family and his friends. He enjoyed giving to people and exhibited a warm and sweet spirit. He had a special love in his heart for his grandchildren and great grandchildren always displayed his love for them in a variety of ways. His hobbies included barbecuing and watching sports. On May 8, 2015 his loving Father whispered to him to come home to be at rest with Him and other loved ones gone before. He leaves many loving family members and friends to cherish fond, memories; daughter, Frankie (Gilbert) Quick; son, Teddy (Birdie) Montgomery, Sr.; niece, Odessa King; brother-in-law, Arthur Montgomery, Jr.; sister-in-law, Josie Montgomery, Alea Montgomery; several grandchildren, Stacha (Tim) Yoder, Monte (Erica) Woods, Teddy (Tesha) L. Montgomery, Jr., Duane Montgomery, Ayanna (Ciammiaon) Montgomery, Reyna and Tonya Montgomery; great grandchildren, Anthony Jones, DeAndre Jones, James Yoder, Jarell Montgomery, Amiya and Ciammiaon Carpenter, Charity and Faith Montgomery, Brooklyn N. Carrington; he leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
