Edward L. Wood, Jr. was born December 19, 1970 in Pontiac, Michigan. He later moved with his family to Columbus, Ohio where he attended Columbus City Schools and graduated from Eastmoor High School. In August 1989, Edward enlisted in the United States Army. In December 2010, after 21 years of honorable service and numerous commendations, he retired from active duty as a Staff Sergeant. He was also a member of The Masons. Known to family members and many friends as Fuggi, Edward brought joy and laughter to everyone he met. Edward departed from this life on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 in El Paso, Texas, where he resided for the past five years. He leaves to cherish and celebrate his life, two sons, Darrian and Sean (Enid) Wood; mother Dorothy (Tyrone) Jackson; fathers, Joseph (Marcella) McDowell and Edward Sr. (Linda); sisters, LaShawyn (Brian), Torrie, Marquita, Tamaka, Blair, and Dominique; brothers, Joseph Jr., Larry (Kendra), and Jhuamar (Leslie); a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relative and friends. Celebration of Life 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 11, 2011 in the chapel of DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long Street, where the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the start of service. Interment Eastlawn Cemetery.
