Elder George Curtis Darling (Mr. D) age 84, born Nov 23, 1928 in Xenia, Ohio, entered life eternal on May 8, 2013 at 6:45AM. He was a 1946 graduate of Xenia High School and the Dayton, Ohio extension unit of the American Baptist Theological Seminary. He attended the Ohio State University and the Methodist Theological School in Delaware, Ohio. Listed in Marquis Who's Who in Religion, Who's Who In America and Who's Who In The World. He retired as an Income Maintenance Supervisor at the Franklin County Department of Human Services. Volunteered at Dodd Hall at the Ohio State University Medical Center. Served in the U.S. army during the Korean Conflict with Battery B, 75th Field Artillery Battalion near Kumwha, North Korea and was a retired Master Sergeant of the U.S. Air Force. Member of American Legion Post #888, AARP, the Ministers, Deacons and Trustees Institute of the EUMBA, and the Columbus Baptist Ministers and Laity Bible League. He served as assistant pastor of the Peace Missionary Baptist Church, former pastor of the Second Baptist Church, Delaware, Ohio and the Flintridge Baptist Church and interim pastor of the Tabernacle Baptist Church, Columbus, Ohio. While in Delaware, Elder Darling was active in civil rights activities and was instrumental in getting an open housing ordinance passed. Predeceased by his late wife, Anna, mother Mary Darling - Finley, step - father Christopher Finley, step - brother Charles Finley, step - son Charles Adams Jr., step - sister Martha Robbins, two sisters, brothers-in-law William Heiter and James Woodfork, sisters-in-law Rosie Cummings, Annie Crowder and Gertrude Trent. Survived by sons Kirk (Jackie), Normal, IL and Curtis, Columbus, OH, step daughter Linda Green, Columbus, grandson, Daniel and great ¬granddaughter, Omaha, NE, granddaughter, Rachel, Normal, IL, step-grandson, Garrett Ridgle, step-son, James Smith and other brothers and sisters-in-law, step-great-grand children and god-granddaughter, Alice Lowe, brother, Donald (Yvonne), step-sister in law, Betty Finley, both of Dayton, OH, brothers-in-law David (Pearl), Columbus and Louis Woodfork, Houston, TX, sisters-in-law Linda and Frankie Woodfork and Margaret Pearson, Columbus.
