Eleanor Billingslea

Eleanor “Ellie” Billingslea, age 88, transitioned home to be with the Lord on the afternoon of January 17, 2025.

After graduating from East High School, in Columbus, Ohio, she worked in Medical Administration Services as a Specialist for various healthcare professionals.

First Lady, to the late, Rev. Hurdie Billingslea Jr., she served throughout the course of his ministry within the AME church in various capacities. She served as a vocalist in the Music Ministry and was heavily involved in the Youth Ministry.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Rev. Hurdie Billingslea, Jr.; her son, Hurdie Christopher Billingslea; her sister, Ruth Ann Townes; and her brothers, Samuel Campbell and Embrel Chris Davidson, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Angela Billingslea; son, Sean (Karen) Billingslea; adopted daughter DJuana Drew; five grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends

Visitation will be held on January 28, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Diehl-Whittaker Funeral Service, 1370 East Main Street, Columbus, Ohio 43205. Funeral Service will take place on January 29, 2025 at Mount Vernon AME, 1127 Mount Vernon AME, Columbus, Ohio 43203. Burial will process to Green Lawn Cemetery Columbus, Ohio.
