Elestine Evelyn Lawson

On February 10, 2021, Elestine Evelyn Lawson went home to be with the Lord. Elestine was born in Macon, Georgia on October 28, 1913, to (Bessie Gillam) and (Nathan Stewart). She moved to Columbus in 1923.She was preceded in death by her husband, Isiah Lawson; her son, Nathan Lawson; and her parents. Elestine is survived by her daughter-in-law, Gwendolyn Lawson; one granddaughter, Denise Lawson; and three grandsons, Nathan Lawson II (Angela), Daryl Lawson (Tiffany), and Marlon Lawson (Mary Beth); her adoring great-grandchildren, Kahlilah Miller, Nathan Lawson III (Ashley), Dwight Lawson, Ashley Kirk, James Carsby Jr., NateSha Lawson, Dorian Lawson; and her precious great-great-grandchildren - Alora Remmer, Kamari Carsby, Horatio Young Jr., and Nyla Rose Lawson. In 1957, Elestine met the Rutland family who became lifelong friends and part of our extended family. Elestine dearly loved her family and church - Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member for 97 years. She loved spending time with her family and liked reminiscing about being a little girl living in Georgia. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends and family gatherings.She died peacefully at home surrounded by family. Elestine's legacy is that you should honor God, respect your elders, and live life to the fullest. She will be greatly missed!
