Elmira Eubanks

Elmira Eubanks, age 89 of Columbus, passed away on July 9, 2016. She was born on December 24, 1926 in Yazoo City, MS. Elmira was a long time dedicated member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Secretary for the adult class for many years. She was also a Golden Ager and volunteered to feed the homeless and help with the clothing bank. Elmira was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elzen Green Eubanks; her parents, Johnson Newkirk Sr., and Margaret (Johnson); siblings, Lula McCallister and Johnson Newkirk, Jr. She is survived by her loving children, Elzen Joyce Eubanks, Russell Stephen (Fiancee, Catherine Coop) Eubanks and Mira Vanessa Eubanks; grandchildren, Sean and Simone; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Celebration of Life Service will begin at 10 AM on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 428 E. Main Street, where family will receive friends from 9 AM until time of service. Dr. Charles E. Booth, officiating. Interment Franklin Hills Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long St.
