Elouise Thomas

Elouise Rogers Thomas was born on August 22, 1935 in Middletown, Ohio. She grew up in Middletown and graduated from Middletown High School in 1954. After high school she attended The Ohio State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology. She also became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. After graduation she worked at OSU hospital as a medical technologist. While at Ohio State she met Otto M. Thomas. Otto and Elouise were married August 6, 1960 and had four children: Otto Stephen , Alan Randolph( Randy) , twins Gary and Terri Thomas. When the kids were younger Elouise stopped working at OSU to raise their family, however she did take on a part time job at the YMCA where she was an exercise instructor, life guard and an avid runner at Franklin Park Conservatory with a group of friends from the YMCA. Elouise was a member of the medical arts club, Jack and Jill, and she and her husband were Charter members of the Good Shepherd Baptist Church. After a 15 year hiatus, to raise her kids, Elouise was welcomed back to The Ohio State University Hospital as a Medical Technologist with no resume or interview required. Elouise worked there until she had a heart attack in 1999 and retired. At the time of her heart attack. The doctors gave her 6 months to live. That was 20 years ago. Elouise had several nick names given to her by her husbands and brothers. She was called Weezy, Pookey and Cootie. Elouise was an enthusiastic football fan and could be found cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturdays, and the Cleveland Browns on Sundays after church. Elouise’s cooking was well regarded among family and friends. Friends would often put in special request for her fried chicken. All will miss her Sunday brunch, dinner and smile. Elouise is proceeded in death by, Otto Stephen Thomas (son), Myrtis Dashield (sister), Oswald and Sue Rogers ( brother and sister in law), and Henry Rogers ( brother). Elouise is survived by Otto M. Thomas ( Husband), Randy( Tonya) Thomas (son), Gary (Kianga) Thomas(son), Terri Thomas( daughter), Lita Thomas( Daughter in law), Isaac Thomas ( Grandson) , Miranda Thomas (Granddaughter) Otto Thomas ( Grandson), Vernon(Alena) Rogers ( brother) , Lorenzo ( Janie)Rogers( Brother), Jearlene Rogers ( sister) , and a host of nieces and nephews.
