Elroy Jennings passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2023 after a courageous battle with End Stage kidney disease.
Elroy was born January 23, 1957 to the union of Leo Clifford Jennings & Lucy Mae Jennings (Rodgers) of Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from South High School and embarked on a career which took him all over the country. Elroy spent 3 decades as an over the road long hauler. Upon his return, he had colorful stories to tell of his adventures.
In 1992 he married the love of his life Anne-Marie (Nicholas} on June 20, 1992. Two years later, they were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Lucy Marie Jennings. From the moment Elroy laid eyes on Lucy, he immediately became her fierce protector. He would often chant, “I pity the fool that would hurt my girls.”
In 1998, the family transitioned from Columbus, Ohio to Flower Mound, Texas. Elroy loved road trip vacations which mostly consisted of family reunions, cruising or trips to visit the family back east. His other love was music. He enjoyed singing in the Men’s Choir, karaoke, old school music and concerts. Elroy was a true sports fanatic, with the Minnesota Vikings as his favorite all-time NFL team. Elroy was most famous for his barbeque brisket and ribs which recipes were a closely guarded secret.
First and foremost, Elroy loved the Lord. He would often minister to the dialysis patients where he received treatment, and to anybody who would listen to him. New Beginnings Church, Lewisville Texas, Elroy rededicated his life to Christ through water baptism. He served in the Men’s Choir and Hospitality ministries
During his final moments, it was imperative that Elroy prepare his family and friends for life without him and for life everlasting.
Elroy was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Lucy Mae Jennings; brothers, John Edward Clay and Lorenza “Clifford” Jennings; and sister Lenora Jennings Smith.
Elroy leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife, Anne-Marie; adoring daughter, Lucy Marie; devoted sister Lue Cindy (Richard) Terry; brother-in-law Huntley Nicholas; nephews Jason Terry, Richard Terry Jr and Anthony Haile, Omar Nicholas, Cameron Jackson, Justin, Avery and Sky Nicholas; niece Morgan Nicholas.
