Elsie Mae (Head) Hollis

April 24, 1936 — September 22, 2016

Elsie Mae Hollis was born April 24, 1936 to Walter Franklin Head, Sr. and Alma Clyde Ogletree Head in Griffin, Georgia. She shared laughter and love with her parents and nine siblings. Throughout her childhood, Elsie learned love of family, love of God, and a tremendous work ethic. After graduating from high school, Elsie continued her educational pursuits by earning an associate degree and becoming a licensed practical nurse. She was also a certified welder, champion of her children, and an obedient child of God. A resident of Cleveland, Ohio for over 60 years, Elsie worked at Little Sisters of the Poor, where she cared for elderly patients, with her positive outlook and friendly disposition, for over 25 years. Additionally, she assisted organizations offering help to children and families in need, including Unexpected Blessings and Ms. Graham's Thrift Shop. She was a member of Holly Grove Baptist Church and served on the Usher Board. Elsie was always there for her family including the births of her grandchildren, providing support during graduations and celebrations, and family trips to Disneyland, Poconos, and Hawaii. A wonderful spirit, faithful companion and trusted advisor, Elsie was always there. On September 22, 2016, at the age of 80, passed away while at the Heartland of Dublin Care Center in Dublin, Ohio. In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by her husband Mozell Hollis, son Carlton Hollis, and siblings, Annie Maude Head and Terry Head. Those who remain to cherish memories of Elsie include her children, Sheryl Hollis, Dedra Johnson, Joseph (Regina) Hollis, Gail McLean, Timothy (Dalynn) Hollis, and Maurice (Regina) Hollis; siblings, Kent Head, Tony Head, Sara Roberts, Bobby Head, Rosa Mudhaka, Frankie Head, and Eugene Head; 21 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
