Emma Wallace

Emma Mae Wallace, age 71, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away at home on December 22, 2024. She was a dedicated soldier, mother, sister, and friend. Emma was born on October 8, 1953, in Warrenton, Georgia, to Pete and Cleo Wallace. She was a loving and supportive presence in the lives of all who knew her.

Emma graduated from East High in 1972 and went on to attend Capital University. She worked for Nationwide Insurance Company and proudly served in the Ohio National Guard. In 1980, she enlisted full-time in the U.S. Army, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant. Emma retired in 2003 after 23 years of dedicated service to her country. After retiring from the military, she continued her service to humanity for the next two decades as a State Tested Nurse Aide (STNA), a role she cherished immensely.

Outside of her professional life, Emma had a passion for fishing with family and friends, which brought her great joy and cherished memories. She also loved reading books and cooking heart-filled meals, often gathering her loved ones around the table to share delicious food and laughter.

Emma is survived by her two sons, Stevan Demetrius Wallace and Sean Wallace; her siblings, Eddie Dozier, Willie Wallace, Tim Wallace, and Billy Wallace; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Cleo Wallace; her sister, Anna; her niece, Cheryl Lynn Doggett; and her sister-in-law, Beatrice Ann Dozier.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Humane Society.

Emma will be remembered for her unwavering commitment to her family and country, as well as her passion for fishing and the joy it brought her.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with a Funeral Service immediately following. Burial will process to Green Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio.
