Ernest Blackshear, Sr. was born Friday May 13, 1938 to the late Robert and Daisy Blackshear Sr. in Youngstown, Ohio. He was the youngest of 9 children. He met, fell in love and married his soul mate, Barbara Jean Davis on Saturday, August 8, 1959. From this union were born 6 wonderful children raised in the fear of the Lord. He devoted his life to God, his wife and six beautiful children. God had blessed this union tremendously with eight grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren . He was a Foster Parent and a mentor to friends, co-workers, and young men. He was a former employee of Buckeye Steel Casting Company and retired from T. Marzetti Company. Ernest never met a stranger, and his famous reply to puzzling questions were "Just Keep Livin" . One of our father's strongest qualities was his loyalty and his faith in God. On August 8, 2020 Ernest passed from this life while at Echo Manor in Pickerington, Ohio. God was passionately gracious to take him home to be reunited with his wife on their 61st Wedding Anniversary. In addition to his parents and siblings, he was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Blackshear and granddaughter, LaMonica Blackshear. He leaves to cherish his memory, beloved daughters, Debra Gore, Diana Roddy, Karen Blackshear, Sonya (Nathaniel Jr.) Collins, and Teresa (Steven) Taylor; son Ernest (Betsy) Blackshear Jr.; 7 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
