Errol Viscount Horatio 'Rudy' Gilbert

Errol Viscount Horatio Gilbert, 71 of Millsboro, DE was called home on May 10, 2017 in Columbus OH at Crown Pointe Care Center. Errol was born on May 2, 1946 in St. Johns Antigua in the village of Barnes Hill, a son of Mary Mathias Williams and Edward Gilbert. He left Antigua at the tender age of 16 (by himself) to travel the world where he first moved to St. Croix and later found home settlement in the United States and decided to call Bronx, NY home. He reached his ultimate goal which was to own a home and acres of property. He was a free spirit who was very proud of his West Indian heritage but he was also determined to live the American dream. Errol was self employed as a Logistics transporter and mechanic specialist since his early 20’s. He enjoyed fishing, reading, traveling, swimming, rebuilding cars and trucks, and visiting his homeland in St. Johns Antigua. He was a loving father and truly loved his children and grand-children and enjoyed watching his family expand. Errol leaves to cherish his memory his sister Angella Gilbert of Bronx, New Jersey, 4 children Sheridan (Miyoshee) Gilbert of Columbus, OH, Angelina (Gregory) Watkins of San Antonio, Texas, Octavia (Keilon) Ratliff of Columbus, OH and Felicia Gilbert of Washington, DC and Honorary Daughter Shannon Lowe Gilbert of Columbus OH, God-son Mark (Diana) Theodore of Woodbridge, New Jersey, God-Daughter Renee Chandler of Newark, New Jersey. 12 grandchildren DaShayla (LeRoy) Spencer of Memphis, Tennessee, Sheridan Gilbert, Jr., Shamar Gilbert, Johanna Gilbert, Diamoni Davis, Taj Davis, London Watkins, Jordan Watkins, Jalen Watkins, Brooklynn Watkins, Easton Ratliff and Eilon Ratliff, and 4 great-grandchildren Nala Spencer, Zecheriah Spencer, Jordan Chandler and Mekai Theodore, Niece Andrea (Richard) Daley of Bronx, New York and Nephew Carlos Samuels of Bronx, New York, 2 great -nephews Andre Daley and Aiden Daley and host of family and friends of Delaware, New York, as well as London, England and the Island of Antigua. Errol is preceded in death by his mother Mary Mathias Williams and father Edward Gilbert, Sister Genie Gilbert, Grandmother Sarah Matthew Carr, Uncle Reuben Carr, Uncle Stanley Carr, Uncle Dan Gilbert, Uncle Frederick Gilbert, Margurite Dennis Gilbert (mother of Felicia), best friends Lorlene Chandler and Jeff Chandler.
