Eugene Edward 'Peter' Gunn

Eugene Edward Gunn was born March 5, 1935 to Willie Katherine Gunn (nee Haith) and Liddo Gunn, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. After graduating from Atkins High School in North Carolina, Eugene relocated to Columbus, Ohio to attend The Ohio State University where her studied Engineering. After working for Kimble Glass Company and J.D.C. for many years, Eugene began a career with the United States Postal Service from which he retired after 50 years of faithful service. He truly loved his job and even played on the post office baseball team for several years. On February 24, 2017, at the age of 81, Eugene passed away while at Mt. Carmel-St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville, Ohio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Doris Gunn Gilliam and Anita Gunn Martin, parents-in-law James O. and Viola B. Stevenson, brothers-in-law, Earl (Liz) Washington and James M. Stevenson, and sisters-in-law, Thelma Crockett, Maxine Pyant, and Elizabeth Washington. Eugene leaves to cherish his memory, the love of his life and his beloved wife of 61 years, Geraline O. Gunn (nee Stevenson); children, Michael (Angela) Gunn, Bernard Gunn, Gwendolyn Johnson, Michell Gunn, and Vickie (Jeffrey) Durham; brothers, Alton (Decie) Gunn of Detroit, MI, and William (Marlene) Gunn of Stone Mountain, GA; sister Mary Bitting of Winston-Salem; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren; brother-in-law James Pyant, Sr. of Floressant, Missouri; cousins, Norman Hunt and Janet Burley; and a host of other relatives and friends.
