Eunice DeBerry Scott, age 91, transitioned peacefully from this life on November 2, 2017 at Grant Medical Center. Born in Anson County, North Carolina, she moved at a young age with her mother and sister to the South side of Columbus, Ohio. A graduate of Columbus South High School, she retired from the State of Ohio, Bureau of Worker's Compensation after 40 years of service. Mother Scott was baptized at the original Hosack Street Baptist Church location at an early age. A charter member of Resurrection Missionary Baptist Church, she was in regular attendance until her health prevented her participation. Predeceased by husband Verne Scott, parents Henry and Florence DeBerry, and sister Carrie M. Garnes. Survived by devoted daughter, Myra (Arthur) Syfax; grandson, Arthur Eric; great granddaughter, Aaliyah Syfax; brother-in-law, Harold L. Garnes; special niece, Donna (Wiley) Bates; great nephews, Harold (Briggette) Bates of Pickerington, OH, Leon Bates of Columbus, and Wiley (Carla) Bates of Frisco, TX; great-great nephews, Ian Bates of Oakland, CA, Terrell Ferguson of Dayton, OH, Christopher (Allison) Williams of Cameron, NC, Christian Bates of Frisco, TX, Darian, Daniel, and Davian Bates of Pickerington; great niece, Kelsey Bates of Columbus; many cousins of the Wall Family residing in Ohio as well as NC, PA, and NY; close friends of the Ferguson and Lawson families; caregiver Linda Hardy; other family, friends, and church family.
